Do you know that scouring and mordanting are ESSENTIAL steps before dyeing cotton with plant dyes? Without these key processes, pigments will not be very vibrant or last as long. These two steps are simple enough yet take some time, supplies, and the appropriate mordanting chemicals. I've decided to try our a monthly local offering so folks can have fun with plant dyes and not worry about the preperation of fabrics.
Ill be scouring and mordanting batches of clothing and fabric monthly at my studio and folks will be able to drop their items off with me. I accept cotton clothing of all kinds. to find the purchase option for this, go to the "arts & Misc." section at the top of the home page.
Below is how it will work:
Drop your cotton items off for me to scour and mordant by the 1st of the month. Pick up your items at the end of the month. Items will be ready by the 30th.

For those who live further afield, mail me your items and choose the shipping option. I will mail them back to you in less than 30 days.
